In our girls fastpitch softball league, we bat the entire order. If a player shows up late to a game, she can enter the batting order at the bottom.
How do I add a player to the batting order, making it longer, while a game is in progress? I tried just putting her name in, but K-ForCE got really upset with the fact that she hadn't been there in previous innings.

The team had 9 batters, so I added the late arrival in the 11th spot. That seemed to work, but only to a point. When I got to the 9th batter, I had to manually select the player in the 11th spot to bring her up to bat. She was the last out of the inning.
During the next inning the leadoff batter ended up scoring. Validation is complaining that the run scored without there having been three outs in the previous inning. There were indeed three outs in the previous inning.
I tried marking that 11th batter as the last batter even though she was the third out, but it didn't help.

I haven't run into this problem myself, yet, but I've got to ask why you didn't put her in the 10th spot? I think the 11th spot is supposed to be for non-batting defensive players, isn't it?

You can add a player into the 10th spot partway through the game. You will, however, need to mark her as "skipped" for each atbat where she was there to bat.
The problem is, I don't believe the "Skip Batter" option is available once an inning has three outs scored. To work around this issue, CUT one of the at bats with an out, then you can add the at bat as skipped, then you can PASTE the original at bat back.
To cut/paste atbats, you need to "right-click" (PC Edition). "tap and hold" (Pocket PC), "touch and hold" (iPhone), on the scoresheet for the atbat you wish to cut/paste. A menu will pop up.
